I don’t want to

I don’t want to

A Poem by Riley

As if a scalpel has gotten under my skin
Pry me open for your entertainment,
A crack into reality and down to ribs
Ligaments and tendons holding me together.
Thinly connected
Barely breathing
Any one beating.

I try.
You pry.

You can’t just take any heart

But I can.
