Just In Case

Just In Case

A Poem by P.S. Buford III
"

...wrote this a few months ago during a bad spring storm...lol

"

If I died without ever knowing

The taste & texture of your lips

If I never heard your voice again

Never found myself adrift on

The incensed air formed once

Oxygen encounters your orbit

If I never got to search your eyes

For traces of affection your actions

Know not yet how to perform

I'd count myself fortunate to simply

Know your name

Add that privilege to a list including

Sharing my interests with a

Woman the ancient world would've

Mistaken for a goddess

And let's be honest, your heart is

Proof enough that God exists

Because when the prospect of

Finding a missing portion of a

Bigger picture seemed dark at best

Your timely arrival cast light

From the first smile that reminds

Me that God still answers prayers

To the first time you traded my name

For an endearing alias in four letters

Babe if I never see your face again

My cells will weep like Adam & Eve

Did when they had home torn from

Their grips, if I never hear your voice

Again, I'll know how a great composer

Could agonize over going deaf

If I never get to hold you,

My muscles & nerves will mourn

Your absence but

My sorrow will be hidden behind

A smile formed from the fact that

I touched perfections heart.

If I never make you mine for real

Then this dream will suffice

Even if I never see Eden again

They'll bury me and a seed stolen

From paradise.
