Secrets of the Defeated

Secrets of the Defeated

A Poem by Drew Norris
"

Secrets of the defeated is a poem I wrote based on a tarrot reading I had done for me. One of my cards said that I clean up the mess that others leave behind and am always preparing for another fight

"

though the days of the broken were behind
i spent a weekend away
and when i came back they were gone
and from dust till dawn
I gathered their dust
and plugged them into the sky
letting their light shine for man

i spent a weekend away
when i woke up the world was gone
it had passed me by
leaving me alone on a desert hill
i wondered as the the hermit
across the sea of sound

until i found a flat where,
i built the world around me
lands of cardboard people
and plastic armies
throwing there bomb
and meeting in the park
dogs chasing their tails

i spent a weekend away
i weep
the bone has turned to dust
im left with their hollow shells
