The Bloody Thruth

"

our hero wakes up after an accident but soon wishes he had stayed asleep

"
as I stepped into the portal I was greeted to a sharp pain in my
chest it was only after a few seconds I realized I had been knocked out, it seemed like forever but eventually,
I awoke. the wind blew gently onto my face and without opening my eyes I took a breath and let the air fill my lungs before
noticing something had pooled in my mouth, not water but something with a distinct iron taste, I coughed it out of my mouth and attempted to open my eyes.
there was something preventing them from opening, something crusty and dry I rubbed it away and opened my eyes to notice a child laying next to me wide
awake and staring at me. I sat up and that's when I realized that the child was dead and it hit me, the horrific reality of where It was, I had been laying
in a street with next to the corpses of nearly 60 women and children, I went to scream but coughed on that same sticky liquid and as I put out my hand to cover my mouth I released I had been coughing out blood, I looked down to realize I was laying in a river
of blood that flooded the streets. I stood up and walked forward along the blood covered streets through an endless pile of bodies and wondered to myself "what the f**k could have happened"
when suddenly a young woman grabbed my leg and as I turned to look at her she said in a course scratchy voice "we thought we could fight them off, but they cut us down like wheat" before I could ask her name she threw up blood and faded
into deaths cold embrace. I continued to wander and as I stepped over the bodies of women and children and a thought crossed my mind "were where all the men" but oh how i wish i hadn't asked such a question as moments after I came to an opening only to be
greeted to what could only be described as a bad dream within a nightmare, as I entered the town square to view a giant tree in the very center of the square and impaled on each and every branch where the corpses of
the men. I shuttered and went to scream but instead dry heaved as there was nothing to throw up. I was able to regain some of my ability to walk as I pressed on but came to notice a skull had been painted on the wall of a shop in blood as if
to say that death himself had visited this land and now it had become his kingdom. I wandered through many streets looking for someone anyone who could be alive but found nothing, I wandered for an hour and finally decided to sit on a bench and rest. I looked over at the body of a teenager who's tears had washed
distinctive lines clear and wondered what her thoughts were when I remember a horrifying detail, I didn't come here alone so where were my friends?.
