Haunted

Haunted

A Poem by whiteNight
"

Just wanted to try something with a twist...

"
I shudder as I inhale
As I open a rusted gate
I heard your laugh in my head
Mixed with the cruel howl of fate

I'm silently crying
I miss you so much
I'd give anything for your embrace
Just to feel your touch

I walk by countless graves
In the bittersweet December air
I trudged silent to that forsaken one
I wish I couldn't care.

Memories are torture
The tears always come
My heartbeat is ragged
Like the tune of a broken drum

Where'd you go?
I can go on anymore
My life is oblivion
My soul is now a broken core

I stare at the grave
Collapse to my knees
The only sounds to hear
Is the rustling of long-dead leaves

You said you'd be there
You said you'd never leave
Where are you now?
Because right now I can't breathe

A man stands beside me
His hair is grey with age
My favourite flower in hand
A bundle of lilac sage

A tear streams down his cheek
As he sets down the bouquet
I rose to my feet
He began to walk away

I stared after you, my voice lost
As I stood by my final resting place
Dear, I've always loved you
You're my only living grace
