the catcher in the rye

you saw her walking,

her high heels tapping on the floor,

her silk dress flying through the air,

her blond hair embracing the wind,

her red lips calling for yours.

they warned you, she was danger.

but her heart seemed so sweet,

her kisses seemed so soft,

her love seemed so pure.

but, little did you know,

that her aim was distinctly pointed at you

that you were the target and she was the bullet.

I really like this. It reads very easily at first, but has a lot of meaning to it, when you look closer. Makes you (or atleast it makes me) reflect a bit on that temptation of someone we've all been warned about once in our lives, and why they may have seemed so alluring. So overall, great job.

I don't see any reason it would inspire me but I do see a lot of truth in this poem from observation and experience. Men can fall fast, disregarding any red flags. It's the hope that betrays them.
