lovers

lovers

A Poem by highonwords

lovers don't say goodbye,
they keep their words small
to fit in their hearts,
when they are leaving you,
they make you forget,
but i remember all the days,
there was nothing beyond
then i learned to listen
to the stillness, unspoken,
under the layers of air,
the stray cold that got in,
i put out with my fingers,
pleading them to go somewhere,
before they finally left me
