A Poem by highonwords

i know you've always wanted,
wanted to live in a little, Greek house
by the ocean, brine would sink
in our teeth, and i would paint the moon
behind you, you are made of light,
the dog would run towards us,
with a dead starfish as wide
as an open hand, i would pretend
to be sad with you, all i want
then and there is to kiss you
we don't have to get married,
i'd still want to marry you anyway,
until you're as old as the day
i loved you enough to love you more,
i could be happy the moment after
this picture's taken with a loan
from cold, distant friends of mine

Wow Steph, I love your poem, its feel and flow and the images of a small house facing the Mediterranean, sea winds kissing your face with salt.. and the marry no marry just let me be with you on the beach... but I must admit you lost me with the last two lines, unless the poem is reflecting falling in love with someone in a photo from so long ago... if true it reminds me of a movie about how someone fell in love with a painting and was transported back in time to find the woman in the painting... it was a bitter sweet love story..

anyway, your poem is wonderful even if I am confused as always... lol...
