Home fires still burn

Home fires still burn

A Poem by Snowman Mike

As I see a familiar face,

My cut-back feelings start to grow

I realise there's unexplored space,

With areas still yet to know.

We're further down the time paved road,

Further than required,

A change of pace - a different mode,

A tact much more desired.

The journey did not ever end,

The wheels they were always turning,

We still don't know whats round the bend,

Still the home fires keep on burning.

They've been burning slow for years,

With a steady flicker of flames,

Never has been doused by tears,

Or shaken by outrageous claims.

Love and flow and rhythm to this poem! As time moves on, as we change and grow, those fires still burn for us. Third stanza, first line-grammatically speaking -should read, "The journey didn't ever end". As it reads now, you have a double negative-"The journey did not never end" or you could say "the journey never ended". Great write! Barbara

I really like this poem. You have great rhymes and imagery. It flowed well, until the first line in the third stanza. You have a double negative there that interferes with the flow. Grammatically correct would be"The journey didn't ever end or the journey didn't end." Other than that, it's a great piece of work.
