Thoughts of an Ant Confronting a Woman

Thoughts of an Ant Confronting a Woman

A Poem by Doug Ordunio
"

cross-species xonsideration

"

I crouched behind a stump of moss

When your face came into view

Humbled by features so dazzling

I was blinded

My compound eyes

Flooded by multiples of you

So many yous

It almost hurt

Released no pheromones

No attractive scents

To signal others of my kind

I demanded privacy

Breathing you in

All over me

The subtlety of unguents

That seeped from your skin

Weep, o mine eyes and cease not,

When begin you to swell so high

That I may drown me in you?
