My Stranger

My Stranger

A Poem by Willow
"

A poem written by Andrew Schroeder about the death of his grandfather.

"
Standing under the hot sun
Dressed in my Sundays best
Shoes shined, shirt pressed, pants pressed

She'll be lowered into the ground soon
Next to her son
Next to my grandfather...

My Grandfather
Who I reflect
Who I am told I look like
Who is said to act just like me...

My Grandfather
My Grandfather
My Stranger

The stranger who took my brothers and I to the drive in
The stranger who took a part of me when he left
The stranger who left a three year old alone
The stranger who left

My Stranger
My Grandfather
