I'm going to write now

I'm going to write now

A Poem by Will R. John
"

A confused young adult having a conversation with his mind

"
I'm going to write now,
Won't apologize for what I've written,
Or judge myself on whether I should've written,
Its 1:37 AM, it wouldn't be perfect in daylight, so it won't be at night.
Why am I awake at this time?

Father, I hate that I fight myself to stay up and keep awake like this,
Squeezing out every last blink of time.
Have mercy on my heart, he works too hard,
His boss is making him work overtime, he gets no breaks, no extra pay,
He is troubled too.

He is wondering why he has to be introduced
to beautiful people, only to never see them again?
It would be far easier to never even see the at all,
let alone interact with them.
He'd never know what he is missing out on,
He'd never imagine himself in their happy- endings.

He labors all day, all night,
Keeping everything else ticking over till they need to tick no more.
Will he ever meet a heart to share his labor with?
Whose toils he can help to bare?

Will he ever meet a magnet heart,
A heart that wants him back.
One where the love is a two- way attraction.
Will he meet a heart where the love pressing them both together
Is not ripped apart and thrown to the other side of the world.

My head hurts Father,
She is concerned for the heart but has her own anger and frustration.
One, she will sleep after this jumbled verse and
Not even be able to treat the heart to a
Dream of the heart he is missing.
She tries but so far has not been successful at
Sending the heart on a dream with
The heart he longs for.

Two, she lost her direction,
She will wake up tomorrow with no particular aim,
Watch the day pass her by as the body
Fails to grab it with both hands.

She feels like it is just her and the heart awake right now, the
Yawn from the mouth interrupts her thoughts,
Reminding her of his presence, and also
As it is 1:59 AM, it's time to finish and pick this up again
Tomorrow. When the eyes are able to stay open,
Not blocking her view of the page she is writing on.
Night, ni-.

There is meant to be no structure to show the weariness and confusion and spontaneity of thought. Does it work? Any suggestions for how to do it better?
