Suspended

Suspended

A Poem by Wilyem Clark

Just as I
Was held suspended
Elated maybe
In expectation
Was drifting into
A state of awe
The messenger
A bird perhaps
Was slain
Its pinions torn
It crashed to earth
The message lost
To blowhard winds
And I deflated
I was defeated
My confidence collapsed
For I believed
In consecration
I believed
In concentrated
Fraternal love
But o these days
That's rare
It hides
Behind facades
Of self-involvement
And so I guess
I'll end this rune

About
I've been writing poems since my teens (now in my 60s) and prose since the 1990s. It's been hard finding decent forums online--the free websites too often suffer sudden deaths. My "published" works ar.. more..
