The Routine

The Routine

A Poem by Cristy Trabadass

I express like its muscle memory
I perform a routine for show
But the feelings behind the expression are hollow and numb,
As though they were never there to begin with.

So whats left on the inside?
Am I doomed to the feeling of nothingness,
To the feeling of not feeling,
Or is it a blessing in disguise?

To not be able to be attached
To have no possession of anyone or anything
To be free.

But thats not apart of the human experience is it?
Thats the whole thing with us humans
We feel too much,
We get too involved in ourselves and other people that we forget the only thing that matters,
Happiness.

We all strive for it,
But do any of us really know how to achieve such a feat?
We have complicated the whole idea of happiness to a point where it becomes an arduous task,
We have made it difficult to drop the daily routine of life, the schedules, and the worrying
To stop looking towards to the future
And just live in the present.

To make this moment important,
And every one after that just as important,
To live in the now

And just enjoy the ride.
