Numbness

When all hope is lost

and the last glimmer of light slips away

I just want to hide 

until everything goes away

but the darkness always surrounds

never lifts or lightens

there is no where to hide

just try and endure

while the waves crash down

onto me curled up against the wall

and while i scream until throat becomes raw

no one hears me cause they are all long gone

gone to happiness, to feeling free

oblivious to what is happening

i am left alone

in a world of.....numbness
