Brokenhearted Girl

Brokenhearted Girl

A Poem by Crushed

This is a tale as old as time

A guy who left
A girl who is still waiting

She knows he is not coming back
But she can't help hoping

She knows this is killing her
But she can't help staying

She told herself to stop hurting herself
But her heart couldn't do it

She saw that he was happy with another girl
She cried and her heart couldn't stop bleeding

She cut off all contact with him
But her mind couldn't stop reminiscing

She dreamt of him in the nights
She thinked of him in the days

She couldn't escape this prison she put herself into
A bittersweet prison where she hides in her delusions

She wouldn't leave as it was the best time of her life
She wouldn't leave because it was once all she had

She wouldn't leave because she has no place to go
She wouldn't leave because...

She didn't know why it ended
She couldn't accept the sudden change

She tried her best but he still left
Was she not enough?

Maybe she will never be enough
Maybe this is the best she can do

So she held on to this memory
Which is her closest thing to happiness

You are enough on your own, with or without him. Time passes, and your wounds can and will heal if you let them. Don't cling too hard to the darkness, let the light shine on your face in it's simplicity.
Things do get better.
