Broken Mind, Beautiful Spirit

Broken Mind, Beautiful Spirit

A Poem by wordsmith

On the outside he is a cheerful man weathered away from countless years as a soldier.

Shaky hands and a smile you could only read about are the first features I notice.

A man with incredible stories, of which he would tell over and over.

Short term memory was lost after the stroke, so he thinks its the first time he told me this one.

Over the past year i've heard it seventeen times, but i pretend its the first.

A man of many talents reduced to rubble, crippled by the lack of ability to function.

Some days he tells me a new story and I think he is better.

Today is not that day.

I have known a few of these individuals. I am glad you have respect for him. War is the ultimate obscenity.
I like the way you have compressed this thought into just a few lines, which hold much information.
There are a few spelling errors.
Good work.
