Quicksand

Quicksand

A Poem by wordsmith

Driving through darkness and despair as I light of hope beams through my soul only to disappear in an instant.

I begin to gaze around me.

Surrounded by nothingness yet engulfed by eminence so lost in a world not built for just one man.

Trying so hard to be successful, but falling around every corner.

In my heart I feel I’m destined for greatness, in my thoughts I feel like a man who will work hard his entire life but never really accomplish anything.

With great ambitions I constantly step forward, fall backwards and make little progress as if to be trapped in quicksand.

Knowing there’s a way out I work nervously to find it, as I sink deeper and deeper.

After constant struggle, a broken spirit and countless failures I slip free feeling a sense of accomplishment and at ease only to see the mountain of arduous tasks that lay ahead.

It seems to me I am in an uphill battle that may never truly be won so I shall take it one step at a time as I continually strive for nothing but the best.

Today’s battle may have been won but there are many more achievements to be had, and losses to suffer.
