The Show

The Show

A Poem by Eden

I am in an eventful theater

Full of a lively cast

Many of which only smile

When the light hits their eyes at last

The hopeless show starts

With darkness and greed

The cast grows apart

Invisible pleads

Now comes hope

Thrown into disbelief

As they grab the rope

That ties down defeat

But this light, like the one before

Is artificial, hopeless,

And covered in gore

"Entertain me", I plead,

"Do not deceive

Do not promise with empty deeds"

I give them a warning

Full of loneliness and mourning

"With darkness and greed

Invisisble pleads"

The cast fades away

Only I am forced to stay

I look around the room

To find one lonely tomb

I hear their laughter

Stay long after

Their bodies fade

Long after mine, has decayed

They mock me, fill me with rage

As I run around the cage

Screaming her name

Dripping with blood, dripping with shame

With darkness and greed

Invisible pleads

They laugh at my dismay

As my thoughts turn astray

But the show must go on

Even if reality is gone
