"WOE OF THE WITCH"

"WOE OF THE WITCH"

A Poem by blackdiamondbella
"

This poem revolves around Jason of the Argonauts and the witch Medea. To prove her love for Jason, Medea ensured his ability of obtaining the Golden Fleece--including betraying her father and murdering her brother. However, for all that she did for him,

"

Everything he wanted, I gave it all to him
At his request, I would give my soul to him
To show my love, to prove there was no other
I betrayed my father and killed my brother
Now I am alone to reap what I've sown
Marooned, exiled--I cannot return home
I gave him two sons, but what does he want?
A throne and prestige for himself to flaunt
I shall now do to him what he's done to me
Curse his conscience so he'll never be free.

So poignant, foreboding and concise - like the dimensions of unrequited love.
