Ebony and Ivory

Ebony and Ivory

A Poem by Michael J. Richards

Black and white

My fingers hover over the keys

An unseen force

Stops them from breaking the reticence

And then I begin

They waltz on the ebony

Foxtrot on the ivory

Tango on the sharps

Swing on the flats

My fingers have a life of their own

I love the feeling

To let my mind

And fingers wander

Piano music is so pretty and so is your discription of the forces that drive its players. It is so complete. You give this poem all the power to say what it wants and nothing more. Its beautiful and you are very talented.
