I Wish

We all wish for something

sometimes I wish

this world wasn't

so mean a place.

That happy endings really existed.

That we all got along just fine.

The headlines wouldn't be about:

who raped who,

who murdered who,

who died today,

who's declaring nuclear war.

Why would you want to do that?

Why would you want to take away 

hundreds of thousands of lives?

What compels you to steal an old lady's purse?

What compels you to be so rude to your mother?

what compels you to kill your brain with alcohol?

What compels you to use the f-word like a comma?

What compels us to do anything?

Aren't we trying to make

this world a nicer place?

Author's Note

It really bothers me sometimes how much meanness is in this world. It is very shocking to me, being one of the nicest people you will probably ever meet. I really want to make a difference, but seeing as i am only fifteen and without a car or drivers license, i can't go do much to change that right now.....

It's sick. It really is. The way people hurt each other, and then it's all you hear about on the news, as if people are just loving to eat it up. A child was molested today......Whoo hoo! Now we all have somebody to jeer at, as they are locked up forever. There was a murder today.....Whoo hoo! Now we can all applaud and grin as someone is led to the electric chair. SICK! WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE????
It's as if they want children to be molested, and people to get murdered, so there will be an enemy to despise and laugh at as they're punished. But what about the human beings who were harmed? What is done to keep us safe? It just keeps happening, in a never ending cycle. I'm right there with you, Amanda.
