Open Wings

Open Wings

A Poem by Sheila Kline
"

It is with open wings and nurturing from special friends that we are able to journey on and conquer hardships as we learn to soar past obstacles that are a part of life!

OPEN WINGS

My sweet Butterfly Friend, don’t take flight and pass me by.
Stay by my side ‘til I’m strong enough to open my wings and fly.
I am trying to fly like you as I spread my wings to lift in flight,
Yet each time I lift my wings into the air, I must wage a fight.

The winds are blowing strong, and are hitting me in my face,
As I am becoming a new creation with birth of steps of grace.
You see my wings are tattered from life’s dark storms of strife,
But they are being mended with each new spark of hope of life.

I need you my friend to take my wings and lift me into the air
To glide on the winds of change as I leave behind despair.
I seek you my friend to clear the sky as we glide side by side,
Clearing the fields and meadows of gilded flowers of foolish pride.

Please let me drink the nectar that provides for me an antidote
To find the fairest flowers that shall lift life's song in happy note.
Dry my dampened wings with air by sun’s rays now warmed,
So as I flutter and soar on in life, I will fly as one transformed.

Please, stay by my side until I have flown alone a successful trip.
Give me the confidence that I desire so that in flight I do not slip.
You are my friend who has completed many times this same ride.
I need your words of encouragement telling me how high to glide.

I am almost ready to lift my wings into skies of my future's flight,
As I can see the reward of this journey's end bathed in sunlight.
I shall forge on past storms full of impending winds of change,
As you promise to hold my wings when my flight’s rearranged!

I MUST NOW OPEN MY WINGS!

With confidence I sing,
I shall open up folded wings as I desire now to fly.
My cherished friend, release me into the sky!
We shall sail together in a rhapsody of wing,
And as a new creation, I’ll in this flight sing!

i like this...it asks the friend to be by the speaker's side...for support...not to fly for her, or to push her to get started...but to just be there---to be patient....the real friends we have do support us, and are patient...poets open their wings as well....and with support from other poets, they will open their worded wings and write to the sky.

"And, as a new creation I shall in this flight sing!" loved this.

Everything is impermanent. Thoughts, actions, love, life etc

Beautifully written on a golden cloud somewhere.

Sheila simply stunning work, to admit you need others to get through tough times to me is a sign of strength not weakness... cause life is rough and no one can do it alone... your voice here is boisterous and encouraging.
