Gift of Human Kindness!

Gift of Human Kindness!

A Poem by Sheila Kline
"

As we show love and mercy we allow human kindness to flow like a gentle shower of healing rain. Let us say, "I Think It's Gonna Rain"

Gift of Human Kindness!

Wars destroy, kill, and tear spirits apart,
Yet pillage and destruction continue.

The drum beat of battle instills fear.
Mournful sound of taps pleads for peace.

The Earth heaves with discomfort,
The lost fervently pray, "How can this be?"

We watch, hear, and taste of troubles.
The forsaken beg, "Please save us!"

Buildings fall and crumble; people implore,
"We thirst for a healing gift of rain"!

Soft rain starts to fall;
Welcomed is answer to compassion's call!

The sun shines with warmth.
It sparks a rekindled gift of healing.

The moon casts beams 'cross skies,
The tormented are bathed with soft light.

The winds blow to scatter the chaff,
And quickly remove cobwebs of fear.

The Earth continues spinning on its axis.
The Heavens are aware of mankind's plight.

We shout, "May gifts of human kindness rule"!
Raindrops hang heavy in newly formed clouds.

Showers of rain start to fall.
We must not ignore humanity's call!

Sun, moon, wind, and earth join together.
Mankind is blessed as friendship bonds form.

A mother's soft embrace offers comfort,
As children gone adrift welcome her touch.

Peace heals broken heart and spirit alike.
Prayers lifted for agreements are now heard.

Let us share love birthed by brotherhood.
Dark clouds part and we thankfully proclaim,

"I think it's gonna’ rain.
Let human kindness overflow"

Glory, glory!

Human kindness could end all war. If rich countries send food, water and medical help. Doors of peace and forgiveness would open up. Sending Soldiers and guns isn't a tool of peace. Always a pleasure to read your thoughts and poetry. Thank you for artwork and amazing poetry.

A beautiful nature themed poem contrasting rainfall with its awe-inspiring qualities of renewing life and human hope with the vagrancy, ugliness and brutality of war.

Another quality write !

Shelia you are an exquisitely deep and thoughtful writer. A compassionate piece that tells of the downfalls of the human beast, yet offers hope to humanity. May God rain down his blessings on you.

Your metaphor of Rain as God's Balm for human suffering is so lovely, Sheila.
This was an in-your-face indictment of human Nature, yet with sadness and hope, rather than anger: Masterful!
