Letters in the air

Letters in the air

A Poem by Willem DelFuego
"

A retreat in Cat Spring Texas inspired me to write this. I saw lights in the night sky, and they filled me with wonder at how beautiful life is, though we are suspended in darkness, we are surrounded

"
Love letters in unlikely places

I saw an angel dance

I was in the cabin called John
Pappa is doing something

Lights in the evening

Warm bright circles, vision mesmorize

A secret kept in anticipation

What I saw above the trees

A golden light

Showered wealth upon it's leaves

Coldest exposure , ice already forming

My heart betrays this weather

A question answered in this element

These lights I always longed to see

The night was dark yet
I was filled and warm
Skin loosing ghost of regret

A child again in passion for wonder

A child again innocent of observation

Here I sit, by the logs and by the fire

Sitting in my pappas lap

He reads me the stories

He wrote for me before I was born

He wrote about me through ancient light

Looked past the dark sky

Of the depths of dusty valleys
Deep into frozen ocean

Though I am not sad, my eyes betray

I am not sad my eyes betray

My frozen ocean is a body of ghosts
Replaced now by a body of trees

I feel the sense of wonder

That kept me moving through the pain

The branches sway for Abbas breath
Underneath this frozen sea

Never care of where I go

And where I am today

I thought my tears made an ocean
I set my eyes on foreign hope

It's all in the summer
Stories in the winter

You left me stories Pappa

You wrote them for me with your hands

And hid them for me in the open

So I could find them, and remember

The long forgotten place of my birth

Sitting in Your loving arms you tell me

Though life has been sometimes a fire

Burning on my skin and in my lungs

You kept me safe you brought me under

You hid such love in my account

I have no shame though I am naked

The shame in time that men observe

We keep our secrets and they haunt us

You keep your secret place reserved

And your spirit haunts me

Its a secret you reveal

Whispered romances heard echoing
Thunder above rumors of wars

Our hidden values we hope gain interest

Your hidden values linger in the air

In plain sight though we are blind

Its worth forgotten, like the world behind
The cupboard door

We assess the wonder of you

The wonder that brings us life

We assess it with eyes of fear

But you remind me of how you loved

You loved when you said I would be

A man of sometimes pain and suffering

Though not enough to capture me

If man looses all his wealth

If man leaves behind the interest

And naked goes without regret

Loosing what a liar had

Wealth lost on rumors
Wars and terror - dry our eyes

His captor is the victor

No other captors will be well met

He is owned by infinite value

No other can assess

Such great love you have for me

You heard my hearts secret request

Even when I did not speak it

You read it like a sheet of music

You orchestrated the night sky

-How did you see me through such black
Down in depths sea frozen
Sinking slowly through shaking limbs-

The place I often forget

-How did you know such dust
How did water turn to dust-

How did I become a man?
I saw Him dancing.

To be a dancer clothed in eternal

A light from a nameless sea
You can listen to the sound
Hear light dance through the sky
-I wonder how this can be-

Voice sings of how you love the smallest

Though he often can not recall

What is my value that you should love me?

That you would bring this moment

I can let go, no even as I try
In letting go I hate its absence

I try to say enough

How can I express this story that you wrote?

Listen life of quarter spent

Hear how your heart laughs

How it joyfully imagines

What words your Pappa has written

What made this house, and fire burn?
I stole the trees from your ocean

-I found a place for my head to rest-

Baby child, beautiful daughter

you can go into the cabin

Anytime you want

You do as John did

His head on Loves breast

Exile brings you to a place

Where you cant forget the stars

You cant forget the ancient
Of days before time was a word
And the only word was -Let-

The one in exile is so near
To what was spoken after "there"

-Be-

-Light-

To enter in a promised fortune

Whose value can not be assessed

By interested man with rulers measure

Man's kings rule like mathematicians
Writing formulas for success

No weight it keeps
Yet holds the substance
Of a promise kings can't change

-Your portion is a mountain-

My portion kings can't measure
Entire nations of wise men
Shake with anger for the absence
Of maps marked "x"
"Here is another man's treasure"

Small on maps

Vastly greater

Not enough trees in this ocean

Could make paper for its print

Draw it out in confusion

As I sit with Dad the King

We are not measured, children

Measured with a ruler or a scale

But infinite
Infinite intimate
Intimidating enemies
Calculating infinity

-Now we read together-
-Put away your thoughts child-

To be further read....

Willem DelFuego
I can't consider this poetry, nor limerick. I just wrote as I was inspired. I consider it more stream of consciousness, but your opinion will hopefully be more personal.
