Phoenix

Phoenix

A Poem by Wynter Page
"

the beam of redemption that breathes in the ashes...

"

Why can't I be the phoenix?

A beam of redemption that breathes in the ashes.

Somehow I'm still lasting in the fire,

and it has to burn out sometime.

The hot coals holding my heart

burn me and yet make me feel alive.

The pain is the realization

that maybe I can survive total destruction.

Fate holds my future in it's clawed hand

and glares upon my smile in the waiting.

It knows my pieces of a smoking past

that I still carry in the back of my mind.

But it doesn't understand that I could erase it,

I could erase this,

if it only gave me the chance.

I could make myself and the whole world believe

that I'm worth another morning.
