Two Halves of a Heart

Two Halves of a Heart

A Poem by Adam Awdish

Your grasp on my heart is firm

Your hands cold, but your eyes warm

As I gaze into you, deep, deep down, I can see through you

Through your soul, through your hopes, through your dreams

Into your heart

As our eyes meet, warmness grows inside

Warmness unlike all the others I have felt before

I have never felt this hot intensity before

All I want is to hold you

To protect you

To care for you

To be with you

All I can think of is you all the time

Do you think of me?

Your touch on my skin sends chills down my spine

I hold your hand tightly; I never want to let you go

You tug on my heart; do I tug on yours?

You make my life; do I make yours?

You rule over my dreams; do I rule over yours?

My stomach turns at the thought of you

My palms sweat when I talk to you

My heart stops when we touch

My soul aches when we are apart

With your hand in mine, I feel a connection between us

More than just physical, our minds are one

Our souls are one

Our hearts are one

I want to be your guardian

I want to be your angel

I want to be your dream

I love you; and I hope you love me

My heart burns for you; does yours follow suit?

My skin longs for your touch; do you get goosebumps too?

My soul aches for your care; are you broken without me?

I love you; and I hope you love me
