A Chapter by Jamie

Hey MC

Listen close 'cause this is my apology

It hurts to hear your laugh, to see you smile

Hopefully this will only last a little while

It's your laugh I hear

That breaks this fear

Deep in my heart

I know we won't always be apart

When both you and I are strong

Maybe then we'll get along

In a place far from here

Where we will no longer live in fear

I never meant to hurt you

That's the last thing I'd want to do

I never meant for this to be

I hope someday you will see

Our relationship is so fragile

But to mend it, I'll go the extra mile

This apology I hope you hear

I'm sorry, and I pray it's clear

Deep in my heart

I know this mistake was smart

I just want you to know all along

I've been singing our song

It keeps you near

Through nights of fear

This was a hard thing to get through

And regret it, I will never do

Soon we'll be free

And together we may be

Our lives no longer fragile

Making it easy to smile

I understand you won't always be near

But for me that brings no fear

I'll know in my heart

That we're not apart

You're here all along

Together we're getting strong

When depression's ugly head does rear

Don't worry, I'm right here

I always knew

That you and I would pull through

I like the linchpin in the middle, about the fragility of relationships. Recalls Sting's song from some time ago, Fragile. All our lives are fragile, evanescent. Not just our relationships, but our very lives. True, we can strengthen that occasion, & most durable via spiritual insight: our lives are little cracks that the Light shines through. The wisdom secret is we ARE that Light. Then the fragility yields to Grace.

Dear Jamie,

Hard, honest emotion. Yes it is hard. It's hard to live honestly with yourself alone. Imagine the burden of adding another. That's very difficult. It takes a lot to see a relationship through. There are ups and downs, and then there are the elations and the hell-scraping despairs. Those can be grueling and relationship-ending. It takes a lot of personal spiritual power to wheel through those.

Very best regards,

Rick
