Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

A Poem by Alias

Today I sang and laughed with glee
But it was not the Christmas cheer
That made me so relieved you see
It was my own, and secret, fear

Amid the singing crowds I slipped
In to a private, sacred space
Alone - and trembling I quickly stripped
And searched to seek my own disgrace.

But what I found was that red bliss
That for weeks I had been searching for
The evidence I'd sorely missed
In absence that branded me, a w***e.

I have not prayed to God for much
But for this gift I thank you desperately
It wasn't the worth the fleeting touch
I could not have faced his pregnancy.

Breathing a sigh of relief and it wasn't because sugarplums were finally dancing in your head. I like the feel of this and how you disguised an ending that I didn't expect. Once I read it the worry I felt in your words became a bolder font in my mind. Great writing Alias.

This is so good...its different..you have your own style and it reads here. How many times have women gone through this moment, and not had the courage to share that elation that you feel when you are in the clear. This is honest. I love it.

I love this. It strikes a chord with events relevant in my life right now. I love the narrative.

Uhhhh.... Hey, how about all that global warming stuff? It's really tough on those polar bears, ain't it?

I'm a guy, honey. We tend to avoid the personal stuff. Like ninjas, we use distraction.

Haha - then you don't have to read it, sweetie?

Sorry for the confusion. I suffer from multiple college degrees. I'm still functional, though.
Hmm.. Well, I don't know how to explain this xD

It was very interesting and the meaning was un-evident. The title threw me off a little, aha. Well done!
I loved how it had multiple meanings though..

I had already read this :P. Just couldn't find the words to review.
It is heart wrenching. Sad, even though I can feel the heartbreaking happiness. A mix of pain and relief.

Thanks, it's not my best written but the narrative is still important. :)
