She rose up madly screaming

Then quieted, I heard her say

Good Lord, I'm only dreaming

The night was silent once again

Peace reigned the world, it seemed

But in her covers, in her bed

She muttered, stirred, and dreamed

Beyond madness and contempt

Night after night we all return

To bright halls decked with streamers
