Now inhale

Now inhale

A Poem by Xitlali

Now inhale

He looks upon his world that is morbidly settled in front of him.

Questions why life throws objections his way

Preventing him to move forward

Limiting him from light hearted laughs and smiles

Cutting him from the existence of everything around him

Why can’t he just fly and float about?

Why does he have to drown all of it with the sweet smell of his favorite, medicinal best friend

Inhaling

Corrupted lungs

Broken wings

Now

He is drowning

Slowly falling

 Into a deep haze

Now

He is up

He pounds his kickers on the wooden floor

He hollers until he feels like his windpipe might burst

Boom, Holler, boom, Holler

It goes on until all of the enrichening, savoring, smoke flows out of his system and soul

Now

He lays there and once again

He looks upon his world that is morbidly settled in front of him.
