Lightening

Lightening

A Story by Taylor Anne
"

a memory of an old friend *sigh*

"

I was sitting there at 3am in her bed and perhaps I was shaking or at least trembling from not only fear but joy. We were waiting for her boyfriend to show up although she had made it so clear he wasn't to be coming tonight. It was known that when he arrived he would flash a light so we could open the window and he could make he appearence. Maybe it was the medication or just her anxiety but she suddenly flipped over and fell onto the floor. She swore she'd just saw a flashlight. Seeing that there were many fireflies I told her to calm down "it was just a lightning bug". Persistant and subborn she was, saying only "no, it's too early for them". Knowing her I simply lifted her chin and watched as her eyes traced to the ceiling where two lightning bugs sit. She then lowered her eyes and I could feel it. I leaned in and her lips met mine as my mind began to wander over thoughts of peace and happiness.
