Schitzophrenic Daydream

Schitzophrenic Daydream

A Poem by KGV

Schizophrenic Daydream

Is this my creation, my splendid disaster?
The mirror screams anticipation.
A face stares back, sadness plastered in its eyes.
She wears a cross like a crown and drinks her misery down.
"I can't recall my heritage." Her lips drip with heartache.
"And I die everyday. Crying feels like hell's fire and I'm already dehydrated."
The melancholy lowers the volume of her words; I must strain to hear.
If I touch the mirror will she disappear?
Through with contemplating; a baseball bat destroys her voice.
Now I think my skull is shattered. My knees hit the floor, glass slicing the flesh.
Fingernails break grabbing for the sink. I think I'll go drown in my pity.
Manhattan is so dead tonight..

I do so hate saying "wow" but you know...it was the first word that came into my mind.

This is perfect...maybe because I've been there, you know...but....the writing is fantastic.

Your last line "Manhatten is so dead tonight" hits one like a brick, screaming the contradiction of it's simplicity into ears that have no choice but to listen. And that's it, isn't it, writing? The ability to yell without ever muttering a single word.

You're amazing, thank you for visiting me.
