A Trail of Red

A Trail of Red

A Poem by yinghua12

A Trail of Red

looking out the window

tears streaming down my face

watching you walk up the path

walk through the door

there's a trail showing where you walked

a road of bright red

glistening in the sunlight

a trail of blood

your face pale as you walk in

you've run hard to get here

exerting yourself

leaving a trail showing where you've gone

ignoring you as you walk up to me

try to talk to me

but I just can't do it

you've gone and cut your wrist

I begged you not to

I cried not cause you didn't believe me

but cause I didn't want anything to happen to you

I just won't be able to deal with it

it'll be too much for me

the pain of watching you bleed

the pain of watching you hurt

and being able to do nothing about it

there's a trail of red wherever you walk

following your every step

always with you, never leaving

you're walking away

my heart's breaking

but I'll be able to find you

by following that trail of red

bright red, standing out

reflecting the sunlight

glistening

it's coming from your arm

your wrist is bleeding

the trail of blood

showing where you've gone

it'll never fade

and I'll always be able to find you

you'll never really be gone from me

as long as I follow that trail of red
