The Reckoning

The Reckoning

A Poem by timthy
"

We have all been here at least once...

"

Tear stains upon my pillow

Sadness engulfing my eyes

Reality has become so shallow

Please heed my final cries

No purpose for living

Only to die of free will

Soul freely longing

To lay peaceful and still

Meandering through life

With the clenching of fist

Enduring all strife

Yet I barely exist

Loneliness has become

My dearest friend

So untrusting of some

But on it, I depend

Sense the end drawing near

Having very little time

Make these demons disappear

And free my troubled mind

Trying to carry on

Yet it gets harder every day

What was left of me is gone

Yearning to make it go away

Depression is a feeling

Understand it all to well

Inside, my soul is reeling

From this mortal coil's hell

Searching in confusion

Of what life is all about

Only to come to the conclusion

That death is the only way out

For today is the day of reckoning

Put this tortured shell to rest

Inside the soul is beckoning

To dance among the blessed...
