Haunted

Haunted

A Poem by timthy
"

The apparition that is always lurking in the shadows

"
So many skeletons in the closet
Not sure which one to wear
Perhaps the one that caused it
    And cloaks me in despair

So many bats engulf the belfry
     Making thoughts rather hazy
The dominant voice tells me
     You must be going crazy

So many toys in the attic
Which one to play with first
Toying around in this addict
      Is an unrelenting thirst

So many apparitions
      That have been manifested
Are the result of conditions
      Force fed myself and digested

Not sure what came first
     Depression or addiction
Each having an unquenchable thirst
     And a hunger for affliction

Cursed by a ghost
     Forever teased and taunted
This poltergeist makes the most
     Of things never wanted

A soul should be free
     To roam whence it jaunted
This house that is me
     Remains unabashedly haunted...

Really excellent. It leaves a feeling of being exposed yet having pain that is invisible to others. Great poem about addiction, depression and suffering. Truth is truth.
