Making up my mind

Making up my mind

Making up my mind

I’m not dirt

You may as well be a flower but you can’t find a home in me

Let your roots intertwine beneath my surface

Let me support you, and you can make me pretty

an old brick wall, covered in moss, gradually falling out of place

One by one, just needs your strong ivy to fill the open spaces

a crack in a parking lot stuffed with dirt, stepped on and overlooked

could be more with your special roots

Don’t rip up the ivy, you’re the most beautiful thing growing here

Please hold on, i will you give you sunshine

Brilliant plant, but

i’m not dirt, i’m not a falling wall

I won’t stay old so you can be new

a new beautiful flower, i love to see you grow

but i’m not dirt, as much as i want to be for you,

i know my worth.

Wow. I dont know what else to say. The imagery this creates is so romantically sorrow. Yet at the end when it is revealed the poem is in fact about loving oneself, theres still a twinge of sadness. Amazing work!
