Beneath The Rubble

Beneath The Rubble

A Poem by Candid

Beneath The Rubble

From the rubble

Beneath the blocks of stone

A little one was seen

Innocent, cute, tender in years

A kind hand pulled her out

She was bruised all over

A few bones broken

She was taken to the hospital

Resuscitated

She came back to life

She was given a new life

It was the bricks of her own house

That had broken her bones

Her books, her toys

All under the rubble

‘A blast it was’ they said

No school left standing, no friends

Mom and dad nowhere to be found

Yes, a new life it was

A new beginning

But where to begin?

And how to begin?
