Autumn's Allure

Autumn's Allure

A Poem by Yvonne Remington
"

Enjoying the beauty of a northern autumn

"

I tramped through the woods, shuffling the leaves,
With my mind in the clouds and my spirit in the trees,
My senses were immersed with all the familiar scents in the air
It was a marvelous day for forgetting all worry and care

For Indian Summer finally emerged like a mystical daydream
Sprinkling seasonal happiness on the tail of a sunbeam
The cider mill, long walks, and festivals countywide
Thoughts of Thanksgiving, families and old time hayrides.

Down the path and over the hill I courageously wandered,
In search of what, I could only pause and ponder,
The blush of brilliant hues were everywhere I turned,
In my heart the mysteries of the world continued to burn.

The wind whipped and swirled gently across the path it found
Causing a leaf to be tossed and float softly to the ground
My heart sung as I dwelled on the glorious mental high
The thrilling joy of being alive
