Leaving You Unpainted

Leaving You Unpainted

A Poem by Zayra Yves

We had a brief exhibition

significant only in the remaking of us.

Our heads slightly bowed

maybe in prayer or just pretense.

Sometimes languid, other times

completely powerless

but sensual in every shade of white.

The possibility reinforced by hands

that are crossed as if sending a message

to those in an audience.

We were taunt in opposition,

bound in emotional ropes,

in a reflection of gray plastered mutes "

We could even do a series of 8 moods.

Our tentative rough surfaces punctuated

with crevices sucking up the light "

(we were rarely smooth,

imbued with our naked boldness).

We were held in a lover’s oeuvre,

where paint, like experimental virtues,

never made it into the series….

So, as a gesture of sensibility

I am leaving you unpainted

in a gallery of ghosts

somewhere on farewell street

as a figure

that did not mean to pose.

"where paint never made it into the series"

love is often a very "brief" exhibition..we paint ourselves in and out of it...and sometimes never get a chance to paint the other person into the portrait because he or she is gone too quickly..

i really like this write..it is beautiful...as has been said.

not sure of "taunt" i wanted to read it as "taut"!

I like how the words in this piece just blend in, they kind of catch your attention as you read visual communication if you know what I mean.
Great job, well done.
