when you are (not) us

when you are (not) us

A Poem by Zelda Gin

there's a pattern of you in us
in what we do and what we don't
in these weird names we call
or those straps in old cellphone you no longer keep
we don't hold hands when sleep
and stop eating cheap biscuits at nights
we rarely fight
yet speak out anger in terms of trade
yes, you're right
I'm still a conglomerate
sold your face but merged your memories
and yes,
you're the key
when you are in us
though
not us.
