The Flames of Redemption

The Flames of Redemption

A Poem by Hello, Goodbye
"

..in the fire we burn..

"

The lake was overflowing with fire.

We feared the liquid for we would burn.

But our thirst was resolute and vicious…

Our unrestrained need we could not spurn.

A clandestine change was required.

The substance would alter the present condition.

So faith was implemented in absolution.

A solution attained by an act of contrition.

The lake became our ultimate salvation.

No matter if consumption was the end result.

We quenched our thirst with the flames of that fire.

No longer were we parched, as we progressively burned.

I like the end very much "We quenched our thirst with the flames of that fire.
No longer were we parched, as we progressively burned." No matter if the consumption was the end result.. Who cares about the means if the end is achieved? Good Stuff! :")

good job, good use of words, i appreciate the rhyming...

I am smiling so wide right now because through this dance of words I flipped it back to the primordial soup within which one single cell bows to another and asks "Care to dance?" and here we are~ =)~

well, that's pretty much the way of it

Dark, powerful words but maybe jarring in places where the rhyming became more important than the content - seconc stanza.

Here redemption's found through the agony of burning sorrow - near fearful ..
'We quenched our thirst with the flames of that fire.'
