Rain

Rain

A Poem by Kelli Wyatt

"

Walking these streets I do not know
Relentless is the rain,
A steady pour from the Heavens above.
No longer a hand to take me for granted.
I hold a hope that they miss me,
That they would rejoice in my return.
But these streets I do not know,
And the guns in the sky forced me far away,
And sudden rains have drenched me hollow.
I see them pass in such speed.
I know not to chase them,
But they fascinate me still.
And sometimes I see my own,
Their heads longing for that breeze,
Myself knowing it too well.
My eyes are empty,
They always have been,
Though now more than before,
They stray to the woods,
And my wounded legs,
They follow.
A darkness penetrates the air.
A rustle sacrifices the silence...

About
I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
