Still Young

Still Young

"

It used to be just the air between us,

But now it's the entire sea.

We still cry over lost memories,

Of when we were still young,

Clinging to each other's arm,

Like a child to his mother.

The ropes we pull,

They're wound a thousand times.

They're attached to brick.

In my mind,

The world is made of brick.

I cannot see why

These memories feel so fake

It was only yesterday

When I held you in my arms,

A scared child of five,

Shivering in the cold.

Or was that me?

About
I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
