"
A child asleep in the night,
Considers himself no longer foolish,
Convinced mother to let him be.
He shifts in the loll of his dreams,
Unable to shake his illness.
Images show behind closed eyelids,
What the child wishes not to see.

But see he does,
And fright commands control.
Startled mother
Rushes to the crib,
Soft savior in-hand,
Lays across the tiny body,
Ceasing in shivers,
And dancing in the fields.

About
I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
