Mother

Mother

A Poem by Kelli Wyatt

Sweat burned her brow

This silent ritual,

Ridiculous it seems!

The white of the room,

Strangely calmed her,

Regardless her heart pounded,

An unmentionable pain searing through her body.

People surrounded her,

People she didn't know,

But decided to trust with not only her own life,

But

The room went blank.

She awoke what seemed shortly,

Uncomfortable as the sheets clung to her back.

And despite what her eyes saw as the bloody mass,

Her instincts took command,

Tear welling up in her eyes.

The piercing screams

The unrecognizable features

All perfect in the mothers' eye.

About
I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
