The Only to Know

The Only to Know

Shh...
This is something you can never repeat.
A secret, you could say.
But it's not like you're the only to know.
Others have been perfect too.
So, secret?
No.

Remember that time?
Yeah, that one.
It was perfect.
But it actually wasn't.

Isn't memory great?
It's supposed to glorify the past.
Like your simple childhood.

But my memories are of what will be.
And doesn't that seem grim?

Had I told you,
wouldn't you agree?

I didn't think so.

Wow this is really interesting... some philosophical thinking for me to ponder... nice job.

I like this for the simple reason that I am confused about it. While most poetry has its meaning very clearly marked out, this does make you stop and think about whats trying to be said. A really good twist.

I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
