Awaken

Awaken

These eyes are only darkening,
for what should clear the skies.
Every breath, every blink,
will only amount to grey.
Will someone please awaken me?

These eyes don't cry,
and this dream will never end.
Every smile, every spark,
will only amount to nothing.
Will someone please awaken me?

My shame will never be known,
and every chord will be silenced.
Without oxygen, I cannot breathe.
Please awaken me.

Every breath, every blink,
will only amount to grey.

Some very potent lines right there in this emotionally charged piece of writing... it is easy to get lost in this crazy world today and lose any sense of being... we can begin to feel like robots in an age where everything is electronic and we are often referred to as a number then an individual. A brilliant poem

I started writing free-form poetry in high school. Most of my poems have darker themes - those are the personal ones. If they have a lighter theme, chances are it was a contest prompt of some sort. .. more..
