CHONGQING/HEFEI/YINCHUAN - With the advent of the flood season, water levels in several places in China are rising.

Heavy rainfall lashed nine districts and counties in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, and downpours forced water current to exceed danger levels in eight local rivers.

In East China's Anhui province, downpours since Saturday have caused flooding in the Xihe River. According to the local authorities, the water rose above the danger level.

Meanwhile, by 6 am Monday water levels had exceeded flood-season limits in 251 reservoirs across Anhui.

In the northwest of China, the first flood of the Yellow River has entered Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

According to the regional bureau of emergency management, due to heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, more floods will occur in the Ningxia section.

Local authorities have evacuated people living by the river and strengthened supervision.
