Black Knight

Black Knight

A Poem by Beth
"

A play on words...

"

You're my hope, my joy, my love.

I grow weary waiting each day

For you to finally come.

You're my shelter, my dream, my rescue.

I wait every day, every hour

For you to finally come, my black knight.

I can laugh, I can cry, I can dream.

My life drifts away under your touch

When you finally come.

I can rest, I can rage, I can smile.

Under your protective cover, I can sleep

When you finally come, my black night.

I really like this poem. You keep the reader guessing, even once he has read the entire poem. Sleep is a way to escape oneself, yet a way to confront oneself at the time. Then again, other people often bring out characteristics in us that we thought were non-existant. All together a great write.

A little on the shadowy, dark side. But, quite lovely. I can see the Dark Knight as a real man, but it seems that it's usually a "white knight" we're waiting for. Therefore, is the Dark Knight possibly a metaphore?... Hmmm... Nice, I love to be kept guessing about things. I guess, like a song, this ones open to our own interpretation. This one read, to me, like a great fairytale. Great poem, and romantic, nonetheless. Good work.

I had as much fun reading the reviews with several different takes on this poem. Poems that provide some layers and complexity and multiple meanings to each reader, are hard to find. Here the knight/night can be many things from the simple comfort of sleep, a gateway to the imagination, a person or even death. Death being the favored representation for aging Edgar Allen Poe fans! Well done. My own take is this a about someone who taps into their best ideas and inspirations among vivid dreams - at night.

Great poem. I don't think the black knight is a metaphore, of course the point of poetry is that everyone has their own interpretations.

The refrains you chose added alot to the poem and it all seems to fit together so well. Nicely done (:

I really liked this Zoe. Who's the guy (or indeed girl) you're waiting for then? Whoever it is must be someone pretty special :-)

Nice! Unlike the others, I don't see this as a poem about a certain person, but about actual night. There's a great chance I'm wrong (I tend to overthink on poems and their meanings), but either way it is still a beautiful piece. I enjoyed it very much.

Keep Writing,
Demiant
